Rain Harvesting

The term ‘rainwater harvesting’ refers to the practice of collecting rainwater from a roof or other surface and using it to augment freshwater supplies.  Water collected is typically used as a non-potable source for uses such as toilet flushing, urinals, and irrigation.  If the water is treated it can also be used as potable water for drinking, dishwashing or bathing.  Since treatment can be costly, most rainwater harvesting systems in urban settings are not set-up for drinking water.

What type of Rainwater Tank do I need?

RainSeeker Systems are available in both above and below ground configurations.

Depending on where the projects is located and what your using the rainwater for will determine the right type for tank for your project.

Above Ground Rainwater Harvesting Tank

  • Cost effective compared to below ground
  • No excavation is required for installation
  • Will freeze in winter if located cold climate
    • Requires draining and winterizing
    • If placed in heated space can be used all year
  • Takes up space in the yard or building

Below Ground Rainwater Harvesting Tank

  • Less cost effective compared to above ground
  • Excavation required for installation
  • Will not freeze if buried below frost zone
  • Will not take up space in the yard or building

Irrigation

Rainwater is a good source of water for plants with no chlorine and is naturally soft with a neutral pH. .

Non - Potable

Rainwater is perfect for Toilet and Laundry use. Save money and reduce water bills up to 70%.

Potable Drinking

Rainwater is one of the cleanest and purest source of water, making it more cost effective to treat than other water types.

Alternative to a Well

Drilling a well is a GAMBLE ! Rainwater harvesting can supply all your water needs. Many homeowners are choosing to use rainwater harvesting as their sole source of water!

What is the difference between rainwater, storm water, grey water, potable water, and other waters?

is fresh precipitation from the sky that has not touched a ground surfaces. A roof surface maintains the rainwater quality.

is rainwater from a rainfall event that has touched the ground surface and un managed at the source. This water must be managed further down the flow path by storm water systems.

is water present below the earth’s surface; i.e. aquifers, wells

is water present on the earth’s surface; i.e. lakes, streams, rivers.

is Groundwater Under Direct Influence of surface water; i.e. shallow wells, foundation drainage.

is water safe for human contact (showers), consumption, and food preparation
